Wonderful food and lots of choices on the menu. They can be busy on Saturdays but were still able to seat us. The have ground floor and upper floor rooms so our party of six was able to be accommodated by physical ability which was nice. Rooms were comfortable and clean.

We found the Half Moon by chance, looking for somewhere for lunch on our way to Yeovil. When we needed B&B for a subsequent visit, we decided to give it a try. Booking was easy and the staff were extremely helpful. Our room (in the pubs main building was comfortable and had everything we needed. The continental breakfast was first class. Overall, this is excellent value for money. We’ll be back again soon.

A warm welcome when we arrived, room was lovely with all we needed, we had dinner there which was very good and not expensive. We will definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at the inn, the bedroom was comfortable and gave a peaceful nights sleep. We particularly enjoyed the real ale and food in the restaurant plus found the continental breakfast more than generous for the price.We would stay again if in the area.

I have stayed here when working at Yeovil Hospital whenever I can but they are are so goos at what they do rooms are increasingly more difficult to book so pleasae be advised, book as early as you can.Really a great place to stay....food consistently great, service consistently great......Lorraine, you are fantastic....xx

We stayed in a family room as 2 adults, one toddler and a baby. Great sized room, comfy beds, really friendly staff and a very buzzy pub (we didn't eat there, but it was packed with diners on a random wet Thursday eve!). It was booked as an unexpected necessity, but turned out to be a joy. Highly recommend.

I booked two rooms for my husband, daughter and I for an overnight stay here whilst visiting family a short drive away.We had lunch when we arrived at midday, and our meals were all delicious, especially the chicken and leek pie, which was clearly homemade. The rooms were in a courtyard at the back of the pub, and were very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, and some nice biscuits, plus a hairdryer and ironing board if needed. We opted for a continental breakfast for £5.95 each in the morning, which was very generous for the price. I had a cafetiere of lovely coffee, whilst the others had a pot of tea. The breakfast included large glasses of orange juice, a warm croissant and a round of toast each along with butter, and various pots of marmalade, jam, and even marmite, lots of different boxed cereals, and four bowls of different tinned fruits, pots of yogurt and even fresh fruit. Amazing! I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely old pub, friendly, helpful staff and affordable, clean,comfortable room. Room had tea, coffee, biscuits and kettle and also an ironing board. Only thing to know is our room was in main building on 1st floor and the stairs are incredibly steep however staff readily offered help with luggage and there are several ground floor rooms in the courtyard if this is a problem. There is a continental breakfast on offer for an additional £5.95pp. The pub has a comprehensive menu with lots of choice and the food was delicious. A table is reserved for residents as it gets very busy both at lunchtime and dinner time. We were there to visit the Haynes Motor museum and accommodation was ideally situated for this. Overall a great stay.

A warm reception, room was immaculate, and the tea, coffee and biscuits were a lot more than most hotels.The food at the half moon is superb, with more than enough on each serving, the staff are all friendly and very helpful

We stayed one night on our way to Cornwall, our rooms were spotless, the bedding is good quality cotton and the beds very comfortable, dinner was very good and the staff very friendly, the courtyard garden has outside seating, this area is only available to guests after 10pm to prevent disturbance and the door to the street of this area is locked at night so it is very secure. Thank you to all the staff especially the lady who provided my granddaughters with some breakfast.

The room was really nice, great bathroom and I slept so much better than usual which surprised me!I had a small evening meal in the room.Breakfast was fine but as I eat whole foods it was different from my normal fare!I would stay again :)

Great place to stay room very big fan r two of us had single spare bed in room and a sofa bed as well, TVs in room but we did not use them, shower was power fully very. Clean tidy. Tea and coffee and biscuits in Room, extra pillows and a fab as well.As we stayed in the roof part of the pub it was actually to hot for us, but no fault of the lodge as they had fans in room, other than that is was good.Restaurant very nice plenty choices for all and vegetarian choices as well very busy, lucky as we were staying we had table reserved for us 8. We had dinner there and stayed till closing time chatting with friends and drinking great service. Food reasonable price and full of flavours.We will be back.

We stayed for one night while visiting family and The Half Moon was perfect for our needs. The room was clean, comfy bed and large fluffy bath towels. It was a very quiet location so slept well. We ate in the pub in the evening, the food was excellent, generous portions and very tasty. We had the continental breakfast which is good value. Would definitely stay here again.

I booked for a one night stay in a twin room.The decor was a bit dated but the bedding was nice and crisp and the bathroom had a good shower unit with plenty of fluffy towels. Plenty of cupboard space.Breakfast was excellent.

We had a lovely weekend here, good room and nice and quiet, great location and fabulous breakfast served by lovely staff.

Our stay at the half moon and Country lodge was our second time of visiting and was still very pleasant,good value for money and a great location for our reason for using it. Staff were also very helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

Needed somewhere to stay for 1 night and this ticked all the boxes. Good value in clean chalet accommodation. Very quiet. Great food (a truly exceptional cauliflower cheese!) and very nice cider. Would very happily stay again.

We were pleasantly surprised with The Half Moon In. And Country Lodge. Upon booking I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrive thinking it was a pub with rooms above and that it might be noisy till closing time but it was far from it. The guest rooms are located in the courtyard which has a few tables for outdoor eating and drinking and from 6pm this area is for the use of staying guests only. The courtyard was clean and tidy. The room was accessed via a ish inch high step up to the door. The room was clean and tidy and smelled fresh. Tea coffee making facilities were in the room along with some complimentary biscuits. The room was equipped with a doublebed and a single bed which were quite comfortable. We did not use the sofa bed and I believe there was also a trundle bed under the double. The shower/toilet room was clean, there was a large hand wash basin with lighted mirror above. The shower had good pressure and easy to operate. The only issue I had was the step up into the shower was too high for myself to access as I am disabled so I had a strip wash at the sink but my husband and son used the shower just fine.We made use of the restaurant facilities on both nights of our stay. The food was delicious and the portion sizes generous. The biscoff cheesecake was so nice I had it both nights. We also opted to have breakfast which was a co to entail breakfast no option for full English but the was fine for us.

I stayed here to attend a funeral from Suffolk , I have stayed here before , the rooms are just perfect , the establishment is a very beautiful beamed building , with a lovely terrace , I had breakfast ,continental staff were incredibly friendly and food was delicious , the following day I had lunch a jacket potato with prawns , exceedingly good value . And the evening meal was Michelin star , starter was splendid , Mai course was Salmon saffron sauce absolutely cooked to perfection , sticky toffee pudding , compliments to the chef 👩‍🍳 a 11 out of ten ratingI would stay again when visiting family in the West Country .

We enjoyed our stay. The dinner menu is excellent and the service is fast. The buffet breakfast was good and the service outstanding. Only one negative for me was the rain shower. My husband loved it but, not wishing to wash my hair, I couldn't use it!

Welcomed as a guest - fed and watered - had a good nights sleep.Wi Fi - didn't enable me to work in the room - which is problematic.I couldn't even work a hotspot as the signal in the area is poor.Apart from this all was good.

The half moon is a hidden gem, the rooms are basic and a bit dated but they are spotlessly clean and tidy. the pub is rustic and the food excellent but what really makes this a great place to stop are the people. five star service all the way the team always go the extra mile to ensure you have a great stay.

My sister and I stayed two nights in the family room. The room was separated into two areas which made it feel more private. The shower was great too. The meal we had in the bar the first night was tasty and generous portions.

We chose the Half Moon Inn and Country Lodge for its positive prior review and as a central location for our travels from East, West and North of Mudford.Friendly reception upon arrival; well prepare rooms; excellent evening meal, comfortable beds, great towels(!) and a good choice of liquid refreshment (well done on the Port(!) all served to make our brief stay extremely enjoyable. The Continental Breakfast option fitted very well with our needs the following morning. Great job! Many thanks for your attentive service, pleasant surroundings and accommodation.

Clean accommodation (and cleaned the room during stay- I go away a lot, and not everywhere does this). Bedding and towels very new/fresh.Nice room with en suite. Room not in the pub itself but situated across a courtyard.Reasonable price.Helpful staff. Lovely village/area with lovely walks.The restaurant popular with locals - as soon as I told anyone where I was staying - they said "lovely food!".Ample convenient off road parking.Tea/coffee in room which was replenished during stay.It is clear a lot of effort has been made to make thepub, courtyard and rooms look nice.I can't think of a fault so I am sure that anyone would be happy with their stay and value for money.I will certainlywant to stay here again next time I am in the area.

The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent quality and value, with delicious coffee, pastries, yoghurt, fruit etc. The pub itself has tons and character and serves food until 8.50pm - also has a range of excellent cask ales. Will stay here again!

We booked a 3-night stay on the recommendation of relatives local to the area. We came down from London for a family wedding. Rooms were lovely and comfortable and there is a nice courtyard outside them that separates the main building from the rooms and was ideal to sit and have a drink in the sunshine.All of the staff were helpful and friendly and the service was excellent. We had an evening meal for 9 of us and it was excellent. We also had a lunch for the 4 of us staying and this was also fabulous.On our last night a large group of us from the wedding gathered in the Half Moon for a final get together and we really appreciated the hospitality as we were allowed to stay on a little later than usual for a Sunday night while we were having a lovely and fun time together as an extended family.Many thanks to the management and staff at the Half Moon Inn. We loved it and it will be our first choice on our next trip down for a family gathering.

Arrived and was greeted by Lorraine. Very friendly and welcoming, filled in details and was shown to our family room, and wow what a room. Lorraine called it the penthouse and it was. Bright airy and loads of room. Took advantage of the restaurant while there and the food was top notch, quality, quantity and tasty. Slept well and woke refreshed and ready for our day. Breakfast was served by Vanessa,who was chatty, friendly and very helpful. If we are in this area again will definitely look at booking here again. Thank you Half Moon

Every day cleaner asked if we needed clean or top up tea coffee etc.we had breakfast on all three days & lunch & dinner once & could not recommend it enough so much choice of food & big portionsWill definitely be back

Upon arriving, I was greeted by one of the bar staff who was very helpful and got me checked and then showed me to my accommodation for the night.After putting some stuff down, and went back into the pub and order some food.They had a nice outdoor sitting area where it was sheltered from main road and I enjoyed my dinner and a few pints. The staff were friendly and my stay was relaxing. I would have love to stay for breakfast, but I had an early start. The only thing I would say is, I didn't know where to put my key when I was leaving. When I woke up the place was still shut and locked, and there was no visible signs to place my key, so hopefully you have found it as I put it in the letterbox next to the main gate.Thank you for the wonderful stay, I might stay again next year as I've been invited back to Sherborne Country Fair again, so a nice accommodation is always a welcoming sight and the crispy pork dinner was lovely. Thank you.

An absolutely lovely place to stay. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Our room was quiet,nicely decorated very clean,great shower room and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately,we didn't have our evening meal there,as we had a 60th birthday party to attend. We did have breakfast and it was 5 star, it was a continental style but very good, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they cater for all food intollerances and dietry needs and requirements.HIGHLY RECCOMEND the Half Moon Inn.

Set in the quiet village of Mudford it is ideal as a stopping off point for a break during a long journey or if you are looking for somewhere to stay while visiting local attractions, their room prices are fair (imo), it offers an excellent range of food and beers and I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful during my stays.

What more can I say, great place to stay, great food and great staff especially...well, she will know who I mean if she reads this....keep up the great work....

Really comfortable room on a budget. All en suite chalet style rooms, very clean. We stayed for 2 nights and our room was cleaned and bed made on the first morning.Very helpful and friendly staff. We loved Half Moon Inn. The staff was hospitable and kind, the room was spacious and the food was great ( the restaurant and breakfast). The Wi-Fi is a little dodgy it the reo and the TV is basic but overall we highly recommend.

What a discovery the half moon was , working locally a bed for the night was all I required at a reasonable rate , the half moon was excellent on all levels the pub was busy with many dinners (7 pm on a Wednesday) all the staff were friendly, the room was very nice clean and warm , restaurant all so great very nice atmosphere with excellent choices on the menu. Rooms are good value , I would highly recommend the half moon

My fourth stay here in the last 10 months. Very conveniently located near to Yeovil and the A303. As a business traveller, it is a perfect place to stay as the beds are very comfortable, rooms are spotlessly clean and a walk across the courtyard gets you into the pub and restaurant very quickly. The food is superb and the Inn, is very popular with locals as a result. Staff are very helpful and friendly. I’ll definitely be back if my work dictates.

This is my third stop over at the Half Moon Inn and its my go to place to stay when i'm in the area working. Clean, comfortable and warm, great staff at the bar and restaurant and the food is amazing. I dont think i could praise this place enough; accommodation and food prices are very reasonable. I can get on with my admin with the wifi connection and i get a great nights sleep.

The room door was extremely difficult to open from the inside - Room 1. Actually, I couldn’t open it at-all, and had to throw the keys out the window to a family member to open from the outside. Even the hotel manager couldn’t open it from the inside each time he tried. This is a basic safety requirement and a fire risk.

I was only stayed at the Half Moon Inn for one night for work and due to driving down late from London I barely had 12hrs. But from what I did experience was lovely! I was greeted from a long journey In a friendly welcoming manor, even after a busy Friday night in the pub!! The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable!! I give a big thumbs up to the pillows! I had an early start, but again was served very nice coffee and breakfast by more friendly staff!! Thank you and if I'm in the area again I'll be back

The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and good sized bathroom.The staff were really friendly and accommodating and the continental breakfast was very nice.Only thing to improve on would be the water pressure of the shower which was really low.

The staff was absolutely fabulous. The place can do with improvement especially the showers.It has a fixed unmovable head with the tap bashing constantly against the body AND I am not that large either. The cubicle is the size of a pea pod in my opinion.

Welcoming staff, good ale and great food, all at a very competitive price. We would definitely consider staying at the Half Moon again when visiting the area.

We have stayed at the half moon on several occasions now and have always been very welcomed excellent facilities very friendly staff and the food is exceptional ten out ten.

We had a lovely stay at the Half Moon Inn. Staff were really flexible and accommodating and the room had everything we needed and was in the lovely courtyard area.

The Half Moon Inn is a well planned, comfortable and welcoming establishment. The rooms are comfortable, location convenient, parking easy. Recommend it !

We arrived about 5pm on a Friday . There was plenty of parking. We checked in at the bar. The pub is very rustic with beams. Chatting to a northern couple at breakfast, they commented on the step stairs as they hadn't realised that they had some ground floor rooms along a courtyard outside.The room was compact with everything you needed. A very comfortable bed and the bathroom had a good sized shower.We stayed in no.7 at the back of the courtyard..there was one step outside.The court yard is residents only after 6pm.We ordered food in the pub. The food was excellent and very reasonable prices. The chips were praised by my husband as was the scampi and its side salad (which even had cress in it).I paid for the continental breakfast and was disappointed there were no croissants but the coffee was robust and had a great flavour.I took my coffee outside to the courtyard and it was very pleasant.WiFi is a bit hit and miss and if you're using your maestro debit card then you will need to remember your pin as the contactless for those doesn't work.. The bar person told me that and I had to scrabble for my number.The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Stayed for two nights at the start of August to visit friends and family.The room and en suite were well presented and clean. There are tea and coffee making facilities and TV. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant menu offers loads of options.Will come again

I have stayed at the Half Moon Inn and Country Lodge several times now when attending car shows or airshows and have found the staff friendly and very helpful, the range of food available is always first class and the accommodation clean and very good value for money.I'm very happy with the service they provide.

Half way stay for us as we were on our way to Devon. Wow what can I say, greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. The lodges were very clean and comfortable just what needed. We booked in for evening meal which was out of this world so tasty. Breakfast was just a continental which suited us both, all in all a very relaxing stay for one night.🌙

Stayed one night as visiting HMS Yeovilton which was 10 minutes away. We arrived late after a long day at work and a 2 1/2 hour journey, we were made welcome and they were able to get us some tea despite the kitchen being closed. The rooms are in a nice littlecourtyard and were just what we needed with comfy beds and a shower, everything was spotlessly clean and the lovelylady at breakfast was waitingto open the door for us as we left our room. The breakfast was continental style and just what we needed to start our day. We would have liked to have tried some more of the food as the menu was extensive and seemed very popular, the meal we had was very nice. What a shame we were only staying one night.

Lovely separate purpose-built building. There is a lovely little courtyard outside the room for guests only. It's not over the inn so wasn't noisy at all (midweek stay). Stayed with 2 children and both liked this place. Bathroom was lovely and clean and not cramped. Our room had 3 beds and a separate sofa, Nice and spacious unlike other rooms with additional beds on. Tea making facilities, hairdryer, small ironing board and iron and a lovely big fan (the room did get warm at night so this was a great addition). Nicely decorated room. Food available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the inn. Staff were helpful and reserved an evening table for us. I would happily stay again and most likely will.

Family group checked in to 2 rooms. Both clean, comfortable with lots of character. Optional breakfast was well worth ordering. Various tinned fruit, cereals, croissants and toast. Excellent value for money.

My wife and I stayed overnight enroute to Cornwall. We were made most welcome, had good clean and comfortable room, superb evening meal and good breakfast the following morning prior our departure. To top it all the cost was extremely good. We will return next year !!

First time visitors to The Half Moon and we weren't disappointed, pre-booked a table for Sunday Lunch and the service and food were just great. The accommodation was terrific value for money, clean and tidy plus everything you need for an overnight stay. The food menu has something for everyone and you won't leave hungry! We spent a 4-night break at this country pub and we were very well looked after. Pleasant staff and clean accommodation. We will be revisiting.

Chalet style rooms close to the pub, were very clean and well presented. Decent beds, TV, coffee and biscuits were good. Lots of hot water from a ceiling showerhead and lovely large towels. Expect a good continental breakfast and evening meals at an extra cost. I would definitely go back.

We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived by Tony.Our room was very comfortable and it was a pleasant change to have a big soft bath towel to use, rather than some places where the towels aren’t if enough and not as soft!We had an evening meal, from the interesting menu, and continental breakfast.All in all a very enjoyable and reasonably priced stay.

Very pleasant stay, the rooms are located off a small courtyard area adjacent to the pub. They're well shaded and cool which was a relief after a long hot day. The food in the pub was excellent and could be eaten outside in the courtyard. Breakfast is continental only with a good choice of toast/cereals/croissant/fruit & yoghurts. Would stay again.

I felt that the hotel room was excellent, comfortable bed amazing cleanliness, and calming decor. Not forgetting the flat screen TV.You will find toiletries in the bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and they are also kind enough to leave you a couple of packets of biscuits.Booking into this hotel you will not be disappointed.Food is served from 11 am all day the menu is vast and the food is amazing. Staff are extremely polite and I found that they do go the extra mile.

Lovely location from our point of view at least, with a decent car park, friendly helpful staff, good ale (St Austell on our visit) and great food!The room itself was comfy (with a very soft bed fyi) clean and well appointed including an iron and mini ironing board.The only small negatives, were that there was no cooked breakfast option (we went into Yeovil and had a lovely brekkie at Tizzy’s in the town centre) and the shower (which was a good size in our room at least) only had a fixed, overhead shower head, which caused my wife some concern about getting her hair wet…..I’d definitely stay again, if the need arose and the evening meals were excellent, borne out by just how busy the place became at dinner time.

We had two rooms as here for a wedding.The last minute addition of an extra night gave us the impression the service would be good and we weren’t disappointed.The rooms, although dated, were very clean and comfortable. The daily service took place around us, rather than the ‘out of your rooms by 10 if you want you room serviced’ attitude many small hotels adopt.My only issue was the lack of a suitable mirror/ power point combo to do my hair. The landlord solved this by giving me the key to an empty room that had the necessary combination. My room was in the old part of the building with sloping walls that made a place for hanging a mirror difficult, but I hope the management put maybe a free standing mirror on the floor as no .where to do hair and make up easily is really annoying!This aside, the stay was excellent. Undoubtedly the best feature is access to very good pub food without stepping outside- the Half Moon is well known as a popular local foodie pub and although pricey, the food is excellent and well worth it. A lovely stay with helpful and amenable hosts.

Second time we have been here still not disappointed plenty big enough rooms very clean.The meals are the best I've ever tasted you will not want to go anywhere else.

This was a convenient place to stay and having the excellent restaurant next to the accommodation was the main benefit. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the staff very helpful and pleasant. A kettle and all things needed for drinks in the room were provided. The shower and towels were all excellent.We found the room itself a little cramped for space (room 1 - can't speak for the other rooms) and the electric sockets were too close to the bench to plug in a hairdryer or other appliance with a cable at the end. The TV is also not visible from the double bed.

We had a marvellous stay at The Half Moon. We have stayed in many places in order to visit our daughter, son in law and grand children and Mudford is perfect.The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need for the week end and the beds are so comfortable.Staying overnight we could book a table for the family in the pub, usually not possible. The food is fantastic and the continental breakfast in the morning was very sustaintial.We will always stay here when visiting the area because you cannot do any better, in our experience.Jane and Glenn 23rd April 24th April

We decided to have one night away as a treat and it was a mixture of good and could be better. Pub was busy, great atmosphere, great service, lovely food, staff were lovely and friendly. Only criticism of the meal was it was too quick, I understand you're busy and want to turn tables quickly but we'd bearly finished our starters and they were cleared and mains appeared. It was all a little rushed.Rooms - the outside area is stunning, so pretty but the rooms are a disappointment. They are very basic and we felt a little flat when we opened the outside door.Everything was dark and a little depressing and small... small bed, small cups, small towels. I should have looked more carefully at the room option as sharing a standard double bed with my 6'2" husband is just not comfortable, I didn't sleep at all. It was clean though.Breakfast was good for a continental. All in all a mixed stay.

We booked the Half Moon at the last minute due to storm Eunice.We were due down on holiday and so left a day early to avoid the storm.The room was comfortable,food very good , large portions.Lorraine and the staff all very accommodating letting us hunker in out of the storm for the following day too.Thank you 😊. Would definitely stop again very friendly relaxed and dog friendly 🐶.

My stay was very short, sadly only an overnight stay,but I was very impressed with the facilities there.It was impeccably clean and comfortable and had everything I needed.The staff, especially Lorraine, the Manager, were all very friendly and helpful, the food was good, the service was very quick, and the prices both for the food and the stay were all very reasonable. I hope to go back again at some time. The pub was also very interesting, dating from the times of Cromwell. Sadly, didn't see any ghosts though. That would've been the icing on the cake!

Stayed for one night as I was travelling down to Somerset for a course.The building is a pretty historic pub in a very small village. Plenty of parking and the renovations into what I think was a stable to bedrooms has been done tastefully. Nice outside courtyard. Room is very comfortable and warm, bed was just right and even though the pub is less than five metres away the room was well soundproofed.The pub seems more a restaurant that serves beer, rather than a place you can go for a few drinks. The landlord, who was very friendly and helpful, keeps a good cask. Was surprised to find my local beer (Tetley's from Yorkshire) down in Somerset. The landlord is from the north and knows how to serve a pint of bitter with the right sized head and at the right temperature.Wasn't expecting a great deal from the food, but was really surprised. Started withSomerset brie, which was lovely and then had an amazing lamb shank in rosemary and redcurrant gravy - really, really good, hearty, tasty and warming for a nippy Autumnal night. Continental breakfast next morning was good, and checkout was efficient. Well done!

We stayed here for just one night; wish it could have been more. The room, though small, was well appointed and the bathroom also all you could ask for; especially at such reasonable cost. We ate in the restaurant and had a great meal. The food was delicious and very generously portioned, could not fault it. Lovely old building, and very welcoming staff.

Stayed here for two nights recently as visiting relatives nearby so handy location. Nice country pub with good choice of food and drinks.. Had lunch one day and dinner next evening. Lunch was very enjoyable and the chips are amazing. Had dinner for four people, everybody enjoyed their meals including the Steak which was cooked to order. Stayed in Courtyard room which was clean and comfortable. Wi-fi signal not that great but it wasn’t a problem as wasn’t relying on it. Friendly staff and very helpful. Have stayed here before previously and would stay again. Accommodation is good value for money.

Enjoyed a 4 night mini break here, room was clean and tidy, staff friendly and helpful. Good location for visiting national trust and various museums. Very nice meals in the pub. Didn't have any problems with noise from the pub and we slept early due to young child with us.Would recommend and would go again.

Great short stay here. We have relocated from Newcastle down to Yeovil and needed a place to stay for the night whilst moving in. The pub interior is really nice and we are looking forward to returning for a pint and some food as our nice place is just down the road. The room is really nice and clean. We have used the Half Moon before and knew it to be clean, quiet and comfy with all you need. Kettle,TV etc.We were visiting my very elderly father and needed somewhere to sleepover after a long journey. Lovely welcome and good value. There was a slight miscommunication over needing to settle the bill but even that was dealt with efficiently. A bit more information on checking in would have solved this though.We will definitely check for availability next time we need a bedThank you

Although basic, the accommodation more than does the job for a short stay. The fact most of the accommodation is in a separate courtyard outside the main building, motel style, makes all the difference in not feeling other guests are on top of one. Very amenable staff. The only thing that did not make sense was the bathroom layout, proper full sized showers could have been fitted as opposed to the strange Tardis like structure one has to contort oneself into whilst water flies out the door. But all in all, difficult to complain for the price bracket it is in.

Welcoming friendly place, very clean, modern and accommodating. The accommodation is next door to the pub and so makes a very quiet stay which was ideal as we had two under 5's to get to sleep. I would definitely recomend and choose to stay here again.

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at Half Moon Inn and Country Lodge last weekend. It was pretty easy and quick to book online. When we first arrived we went straight to the pub for dinner, which was amazing! I love the interior, the rustic vibes, it felt very welcoming and so was every single member of staff who serves us, they were all so warm and friendly and the apple crumbles with custard was is something you cannot miss out on. Our room was clean, we were very happy with our stay. My wife accidentally left her jewelry there and they kindly offered to send it back to us. Thank you for a relaxing experience.

This place was just perfect ,a lovely way to escape for a few days .The bar man was so friendly and welcoming on our arrival showing us to our little apartment ,the accommodation was spotless the housekeeping staff do an amazing job .Breakfast was just enough we didn’t want a greasy fry so preferred the healthy option .We ate at the pub on Saturday night the food was delicious really well presented ,the pub has a good atmosphere...all the staff were friendly cheerful . My husband and I stayed at the Half Moon for 4 days whilst we visited friends in the area, our stay was perfect our room was spotless and cleaned everyday.We also ate in the restaurant on our last night the food and staff were lovely ..Will hopefully be back in the future ….

Would highly recommend this place for an overnight stay and food. We arrived pretty late in the day and the restaurant was already kicking but we got a very warm welcome and show straight to our room. A table was reserved for us in the restaurant and the food was very good. If you like home cooked pub grub, this is a bit of you. The service was excellent from start to finish and to top it off it waa only £4.95 pp for a continental breakfast in the morning. Will defo visit again.

I have used Half Moon a number of times when I am visiting family in the area. Always good value for money rooms and helpful in reserving large table for meal for our family to visit us. Good food.

We deliberately picked this accommodation to enable us to walk a section of the Monarchs Way. The friendly welcome and superb food certainly made for a lovely stay and we wouldn't hesitate to make a return visit. The rooms were perfectly adequate and had all that you needed.

We stayed here while visiting family in Somerset and have done so before.The staff were very friendly and lady gave us an extra towel for our room without us even asking (we were 4 people as opposed to 3, booked a double with a single bed).Evening meal was delicious, husband and I had lasagne which was homemade and my daughter's chicken curry was lovely.Staff were chatty and asked us about our visit.A light breakfast is served which was plenty for us, tea, coffee, orange juice, cereals, fresh fruit, toast etc. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night to visit family living nearby. On arrival we did have a bit of a wait to check in as a few customers had arrived at the same time but when we were shown to our room the lady was very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very nice and clean and had everything we needed. We had booked a table in the pub for our evening meal and our family joined us for that we ordered at around 7.30 and were told there would be an hour wait (the pub had filled up quite a bit by then, a sign of their popularity) this was not a problem as we were fine talking and catching up. When our meals arrived they were clearly freshly cooked and couldn't be faulted. I would definitely recommend the Half Moon.

We chose the Half-Moon at Mudford for a stopover before a local car show. Our bedroom, in an annex to the main pub, was fine; comfy bed, hot water and clean; and the smoke alarm activated by steam from the kettle & shower did wake us up in the morning! The pub is like a TARDIS, nothing to look at from the front but a number of corridors and rooms inside giving it a large yet olde-worldy feel. Mine host was friendly and efficient, as were all the staff; the food was of excellent quality and of good proportion - pub grub served very well! As for the local cider, well . . . ! Highly recommended.

Great stay as ever and good value for money. Was able to dine this time and as ever excellent west country fare, generous portions and excellently cooked (always good to have a steak cooked precisely to as ordered!).Ideal for leisure, cost conscious business traveller and lovers of hearty food. Restaurant was full of locals at 7.30 on a Monday night so they are clearly do a lot of things right.

We had a comfortable stay and found that the staff were very helpful.We were particularly pleased that Loraine took the trouble to ring us to warn us that there were no high chairs available for a meal with our grand daughter that we had booked because there had been a health and safety issue arising from the use of a child's seat with a previous client.

Rooms really clean and comfortable. Made to feel very welcome. Plenty of car parking. Only drawback was that room was a little dark which meant light had to be on at all times even when sun shining. However didn't spoil our two night stay.

My sister and I stayed at the Half Moon Inn whilst in the area for a wedding. The rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable with great facilities. The bathroom was a very good size and again, spotless. The staff were very welcoming and polite and the food was excellent with great portion sizes. I would be very happy to stay there again.

If you are looking for an alternative to the Premier Inn type of chains whilst in the Yeovil area, then you should consider the Half Moon. I have now stayed twice and the ensure rooms in the annexe are spotlessly clean and have everything you could need. And the biggest advantage is the restaurant attached which has an extensive menu of very good food and drinks. The restaurant is always very busy and that speaks volumes for the popularity and support from the locals.

Excellent location for a wedding we were going to and really friendly service from the gentleman behind the bar. Room was small, but adequate for a brief stay. We could not get a taxi so perhaps book one in advance but overall very nice place.

Made to feel very welcome at the Half Moon. Rooms are clean and comfortable although the beds are a little soft for me. Have stayed several times over the past few weeks and will probably do so again.

I received a very warm welcome when I arrived. I was shown my room which was comfortable and clean with all the amenities and I was very very pleased with everything. I had an evening meal which was delicious and reasonably priced.I have no hesitations in recommending the Half Moon and will definitely stay there again.

Staying as part of a large cycling group requiring early breakfasts and demanding dinner reservations for up to 30, the owners could have justifiably been slightly put out but they managed us beautifully with early breakfasts and an admirable effort in serving all our food at once (although we neither demanded nor expected this). I'll be looking to stay again - probably this time next year when the tour of wessex comes round once more.The rooms were functional - the only slight oddity with the one my friend and I had being that the TV angle permitted better viewing from the lavatory than the bed!

Room was perfectly adequate for 1-2 nights stay.Pub was warm & friendly and the food was great, large portions.For some reason I had very little mobile phone signal but room had good wireless.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Half Moon, the room was clean and comfortable, the shower was excellent; the staff were pleasant and helpful. My only criticism about the room is that charging our mobiles in the room was impossible due to the only sockets being along the top of the table/unit and the chargers could therefore not be plugged in.(We used a socket behind the bar.)

My stay was a pleasant one,friendly staff,amazing food if perhaps slightly expensive. Nice sized bathroom and shower,shower head needs some cleaning as a lot of the holes seemed blocked but it did the job. I would happily recommend the half moon and also stay here again if needed.

I was lucky to get a last minute cancellation and found the Inn to be an excellent location for my stay.Stayed in Room 4 which is located in a separate block of accommodation, across a courtyard from the main building.Room very clean, bathroom spotless, and bed very comfortable.Very useful to have a key which allows access through separate gate to the accommodation, therefore not disturbing anyone else when arriving back late.Would definitely recommend and stay again.Thank you.

We were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped and the courtyard was an added bonus. It was a good place to meet together as we were staying in 3 rooms. The staff were attentive and particularly looked after the children (8 months and 3 years)

Once again a great stay, the room was clean tidy and comfortable as you would expect, all the staff are friendly and helpfull. The food on the other hand is way beyond expectation and delivers great classic pub grub and massive selection, although not as massive as the portions, forget three courses you will never make it. The quantity is surpassed by the quality and every mouthful is a treat.Top quality one of my favourite guest houses in the country.

It must be at least 5 times I have returned to stay over night on my own and with my partner. I feel quiet put out if I I am unable get in on the date I want to visit home from home feeling I guess!? Rooms clean and well appointed always has what I have needed evern an iron and board Tonnes of hot water!!If not just ask its immediately sorted. Dinning room and bar staff excellent service and attention! Food and choice over whelming now I tick off what I had the time before and am working my way through the menu which is extensive great quality and quantity! The price range is very affordable and love there real ales. Well placed to all amenities and close to town. Looking back it is the only venue I have returned too more than twice!! Well done to the Half Moon long may we do business together!

Booked a twin room online but was actually given family room on arrival which was nice and roomy, the bed linen and towels were clean and fresh, nice size television too, also quite at night so both slept well, customers need to be aware that the bathroom radiator and hot water do get extremely hot, may be an idea to put some warning notices in room to highlight this, only a continental breakfast available but would have preferred a full English. we would visit again.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Half Moon. It is an excellent esablishment, the courtyard ensuite rooms are wellset out, and easily accessed from the roaside,through a locked gate. The staff are welcoming and really helpful. The meals are first class, and have that local home cooked appeal. Easy access to the main A303 road to Yeovil and beyond.

One night stay on a stop over trip visiting friends whilst going north. The Half Moon was booked based on a friends recommendation. The welcome, Room and especially food were all fantastic and I would definitely stay again and recommend to all my friends. The room rates are competitive and I thought the food was excellent and very well priced.

Evening meals are excellent and offset the lack of more substantial breakfasts. Room clean, well appointed and comfortable; the only problem is that in some rooms due toa close proximity of a wooden rail and shelf back to mains sockets, phone/tablet chargers cannot be plugged in if their lead out to the appliance is above or below the plug!

We stay here regularly. It's a fab place, with great food and beer, nice rooms, and friendly staff.

My wife and I stopped over at The Half Moon on our way back from Cornwall. Our room was extremely clean and spacious and great value. We ate in the pub in the evening and could not believe the size of the portions of well cooked food. Breakfast was well worth the fee. We will definitely use this pub again when in the area.

Had a fantastic two night stay at the Half Moon . Very relaxed and warm welcome upon arrival. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Only slight grumble was the power (or lack of) when using the shower. Food was superb - booked a table for 12, and the service and food could not be faulted (not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for). As for the East St Cream - one of the nicest ales I have tasted!!! Overall a great atmosphere and superb place to stay. I would certailly reccomend it.

Food is amazing, the place oozes with character, very cozy and homely, staff are really friendly and welcoming and the rooms are great!! Eat here quite regularly and will definitely be back to stay in a room!!!! Cant fault anything!!

Accomadation was clean and tidy so we were pleased about that. We had a meal in the pub and the food was very good. All in all it was very good value for money and we would go back again.

Our stay was brilliant as usual. Every time we stay here we leave looking forward to our next stay. Staff can't be more helpful and the food is out of this world.All in all a very restful and enjoyable stay. See you again!

Half Moon Inn and Country Lodge is a fabulous place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable and beautiful. The owner of the Inn is wonderful. We arrived earlier than check in and he had no problem accomodating us, without a charge. We cant wait to go back next year!

Very good - nice food and excellent and friendly service

We found that our over night stay was very comfortable, clean and the staff were very friendly.

I am disabled and it is difficult finding somewhere to stay where the facilities are easy to use. The room was spacious and the shower, despite having a small step in, was really good. It just lacked some grab rails to make it really safe. We took a shower stool with us which helped. The Inn is accessable though not a lot of space if using a wheelchair and the disabled toilet is brilliant. The food is very good and with lots of choice. The staff and owner could not have been more helpful and we would certainly book in again.

Goodmorning, we stayed along with our friends the Minton's, Saturday night.Firstly when we arrived it was all smiles and a very friendly atmosphere, our rooms in the courtyard were great everything as we hoped for.The pub itself is lovely and we had a wonderful meal, all the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.It was a birthday treat and we enjoyed every moment.In the morning more of the same, great breakfast as much as you could eat with the same superb quality of food and service as the night before."THANK YOU" Half Moon, we will always choose to stay with you.Kind RegardsTeresa and Chris Hebberd

Having spent the last two nights at the Half Moon, I can thoroughly recommend the place.The room was clean, fresh towels, hot water, a shower that worked ....The food at the Inn was first class with generous portions.The beer was very good, well kept real ale.Well done to all and thanks.

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only things we missed were a bedside clock and some tissues. We ate at the restaurant on Friday night and had an excellent meal-- a good selection of food. The only disappointment we had was on Sunday evening when we arrived back at about 9.10 to be told we were too late to order food despite being resedential guests as the last orders were 9.00

It was a very pleasant experience to stay at the Half Moon Inn. The room was ideal for a one night stay, the food was excellent in terms of taste and value and the staff were friendly and helpful. A small point, not a criticism, the description of the rooms on the website should say that all rooms have tea- and coffee-making facilities.We have already recommended it to friends and family!

My teenage daughter and I stayed overnight at the Half Moon recently. As it is near to her school, we had been there for lunch a few times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. These were good as ever. We were, however, absolutely delighted by the accomodation - it was spacious, clean, full of character and very cosy. The friendliness of the staff and the service overall made us feel right at home. It was great value for money, and we would certainly stay there again, and will recommend the Half Moon to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area. Many thanks to yor staff.

Stayed 2 nights at Half Moon with my son and his wife.Cannot fault the food which was excellent and all the staff efficient and very pleasant topped off with a very genial hosts.We were visiting my son and dughter in law and our new grand-daughter who stay in Yeovil so will definitely stay here on our future visits.

For a first time stay I was very impressed. The food was very good.

Very comfortable and does what it says on the box. Complimentary shampoo & conditioner would be a nice addition to shower gel dispenser which is a good idea as far as it goes.One tip is to ensure telephone wake up call is switched off (instructions in the room) as ours went off at 06:45 after a late night wedding. Clearly the guest before us had set it to come on each morning and there was a slip up in the room preparation.

We needed a halfway stop between Norfolk and Cornwall where we could 'treat' my young God-daughter and her partner.The welcome was great, the room clean, well appointed and comfortable, the food delicious and the real beer well kept and tasty.Oh.. and the people were brilliant.What more could anyone want? The Half Moon gets five stars from us definitely

Good rooms, great food, great beer, great staff. We stay here at least twice a year (and wish we could stay more often). No cooked breakfast the only downside.

Fantastic atmosphere at this pub. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent - so much to choose from but everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Accommodation was cosy and very reasonably priced. A bulb had gone in our room and when I mentioned it to the staff, it was changed instantly - fantastic service.Will deifntiely be back again when we're in the area.

A great place to stop over.I have eaten at the pub several times and the food has always been excellent. Draught ales are a treat too. The room was clean and tidy, not exceptionally large but ideal for our needs.Will use again I am sure.

Lovely building, freindly welcome. The room has everything you expect for the price, was clean tidy and well maintained. I was a little worried with the room facing the bar courtyard but on a mild Saturday night all was quiet.You have to try the food its British pub grub at its best and very reasonably priced.Highly recommended
